Last night I had a eel rice dinner with my colleagues. Surprisingly it was very crowded on Thursday night, so we waited for one hour before we finally get our meals. However, it was really delicious. The restaurant also has other items on the menu that looks worth trying, and their wine list also looks good.

168 Japanese Food

Today we had a meeting with people of our major investing venture capital and two other partner companies. After the meeting, my boss took my colleague and me to a Japanese restaurant which is located in the first floor of the same building. He's been expecting to go there again since last night. Why? Because they have an all-you-can-eat program for just 168 RMB each, and you can order from over a hundred items on their menu. Every dish was prepared as if you ordered regularly in a Japanese restaurant, which means nothing was compromised because you chose the all-you-can-eat. Besides, drinks were also included in the program, even alcoholic drinks. We had grilled fish, beef steaks, lamb chops, sashimi, sake, and even uni and foie gras! What can you expect more for $23 dollars and no added tax or service fee?
The restaurant is called Shi Shan (Stone Mountain), located at #726 Yan An West Road, Shanghai, China.

It's Mango Time!

Mom gave me a lot of mangos, but the weather is so hot that I guess I can't eat them all just as fruit. I looked in my refrigerator for some ideas, and here's the result --Mango Fried Beef. Beef is so match with fruits, yummy!

Happy Birthday

January 24th, my birthday. Whatever happened at work, a good meal at home is perfect enough for me. Allie brought home a luxurious banquest set of sushi on her way home, along with two cute small cakes. Happy birthday to me.

Happy New Year

The year 2006 passed. On the last day of year 2006, we had a fat dinner and enjoyed the glamorous firework display of Taipei 101 from my VIP seats. Happy new year to all.

Oh, by the way, my new tripod was okay but I think what I need is a good camera.

Italian Seafood Soup

Tried cooking my first Italian style seafood soup. The ingrediants includes garlic, onion, tomato, squid, salmon, pepper, white wine, and some shells. Although I wasn't very sure about the proportion to mix them, the first attemop was not bad.

Free Buffet

Last Sunday was the date of the second yearly meeting of my community. The purpose was to elect new board of management for the community. A year passed so fast, last time we were in a partly finished construction site when we elect the board for the first year. This year we have a beautiful garden, fountains, lobby, and a brand new karaoke center. After the meeting the neighbors had delivered buffet service for lunch. Nice food, and great community.

Free Dinner

Tonight we had a free dinner. There is a travel agent who has an office in the hotel we stay. We booked our rooms from him with lower prices, which is 298 each day. My colleague Jason was bugging him to cut the price even lower. He said he can't cut the room price, but he can take us to dinner.

We went to a Hunan restaurant nearby. The food was good. I ordered a snake but gave up the turtle. The price was really high, too. It cost the agent $506 RMB.

Eels in Xin Tai Le

Found some pictures of the restaurant my colleagues took me to in Guangzhou. The name of the restaurant is Xin Tai Le, and is famous for its eels. Its pork and goose are also very delicous. I didn't bring my camera then, so this is the best I can find to share.

Yummy!

Wujiang is very hot at this season. Just sitting indoor having breakfast made me sweat. Usually the temperature is 37 degrees in daytime, so many of the workers uses an umbrella while walking between the restaurant and factory at noon. Thank God I don't have to go to Nanjing at this season where the temperature is often over 40.

We returned to Shanghai in the evening for the last working day and weekend in Shanghai. Because of typhoon BILLIS, we changed our flight from 7/14 to 7/16. All flights are fully booked this weekend; probably many people changed their flight to avoid flying in bad weather.

I suggested to walk to a nearby market to buy something for dinner. After 20 minutes walk, we arrived at the market. It is small but the food there looks really delicious. And it indeed tasted good. Look how much you get for 17 RMB!

Dinner at Home

I'll be leaving for China in several hours, so tonight we have a family dinner at home with my sister. I hope I'll be able to post my trip every day when in China.

Bt the way, following up the post on May 25 about my diet plan. Today my weight is 81.4 kg, which means I lost 6.5 kg since my diet began. Not bad, huh?

Last Sunday tried cooking radeokki (fried rice bar and instant noodles). Tastes better than it looks.

Fried rice with curry sauce. Yummy!
